The California pear harvest is nearing completion on fall and winter varieties. Bartletts, Bosc, red pears, Seckels and Comice are all available in promotable volume. September and October are peak months in terms of quality and availability on California pears. The Mountain Districts of Lake and Mendocino County are shipping the best tasting pears of the season. Lake County, long known as the premier pear growing region on the west coast, is in full production with popular large size Bartletts in both tissue wrap and tightfill styles of pack in plentiful supplies.
