California Pear Update – July 2, 2026
As we head into the 2026 California pear season, we continue to see the effects of an earlier-than-normal bloom. We will begin packing River district Bartletts right before the 4th of July. Mountain district Bartletts are anticipated to become available around July 20, while California Bosc and Red pears are expected to begin shipping by mid-July.
The River & Mountain district are expected to produce a close-to-average crop, with the exception of Organic Bartlett pears, which are expected to have reduced volumes.
Over the past four seasons, Scully Packing Company has packed approximately 40% of California’s fresh Bartlett pear crop. In addition to fruit from our company-owned orchards, we proudly partner with approximately 20 of California’s premier pear growers, enabling us to provide a consistent, reliable supply of premium-quality fruit throughout the season.
We offer a complete range of pack styles to meet a variety of retail and foodservice needs, including:
- 40 lb. Warp cartons
- 36 lb. Tight-fill cartons
- 27 lb. Euro cartons and RPCs
- 20 lb. Half cartons
- 12/2 lb., 9/3 lb., 8/3lb., and 6/4 lb. pouch bags
- 4 lb. and 6 lb. Consumer trays
To better serve our customers, Scully Packing operates two shipping locations: our main packing facility in Lake County and our Central Valley distribution facility in Exeter, California. Our Exeter location provides convenient consolidation opportunities with other summer and fall commodities, helping streamline transportation and reduce freight costs. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional customer service, efficient loading, and dependable logistics throughout the season.
